Multidimensional Maniac (Album Review): A Look At Life Through The Kaleidoscopic Eyes of SYSTEM 3RROR
In what I feel to be a beautiful blossoming rebirth from her previous single ‘Death’ thematically, sonically, and aesthetically, SYSTEM 3RROR presents ‘Multidimensional Maniac’.
‘My Shadow And I’
‘My Shadow And I’ begins with a somberly simple melancholic piano chord progression, which builds itself brazenly into accepting heavier chords from the lower register, and a steady, simply drum beat, along with a phantomly funky bassline. Then, a gorgeous piano enters from the higher octaves, echoing upon itself many times, until S.3. comes in with her sultry, seductive vocal chords. The quality of these intro vocals sound reminiscent of Serj Tankian, while the theme of ‘looking on the inside’ brings the flavor that only S.3. could bring to the game. She sings a soliloquy on shadow work, and on meeting herself on the inside. Then, when S.3. gets to the brink of herself, the deep, rumbling and guttural shouting brings a certain quality of victorious redemption. The guitar also matches her voice perfectly in the strumming pattern. This message is clearly one that NEEDS to be heard, and it is urgent as shown by S.3.s internal conversation with her inner dark self… and it is from the dark that the light must come. The chorus is hauntingly beautiful, and it really feels ancient. I feel as though I’m listening to an ancient tantric Goddess, or someone of a similar magical disposition. Definitely an amazing way to start off the EP! Oh damn… and the way it ends on that single distortive strum is truly heavenly.
‘Demon Queen’
It feels continuous of the last song, it flows extremely smoothly and it certainly feels as one cohesive project. Like, in the first song she is having a conversation with her shadow self, but NOW, she has embodied this very energy in order to innerstand her better! This song is infernal. In ‘My Shadow And I’ she was speaking to the shadow, and now she is the shadow speaking to the ‘I’ she previously thought was her true self. ‘Demon Queen’ feels to me like a true coronation through the eternal power of darkness. She’s telling the truth brashly in this song, and it has to be told in this way because it’s the truth.
‘Extraterrestrial’
Loving the way this one has started already, with the electronic power and the distorted drums emphasizing it, them both emphasizing one another. In the beginning I definitely feel like there is a U.F.O. just abducted S.3., and then the first verse is extremely poetic to me. ‘I obsess with your surface but can’t fathom your depths’. What a beautiful line. This is a masterpeace. The whole E.P. is. She is here to stay, and she’s letting all her listeners know. Like, KNOW. The way she says ‘Alien! Alien’ is pleasantly squelchy and off-kilter. ‘If I get a whiff of one more ingenuine soul, my brain is surely bound to implode.’ This is real music y’all. This is the music that doesn’t get promoted because it’s TRUTHFUL. I absolutely love every part of it. The drums are so hard too. It matches her essence completely.
‘Mystical Beast’
Damn.. this one I’m feeling in my heart in a different way. It’s plucking at my heartstrings. This whole EP is a classic to me, like I said, it’s real music that is from the one percent of the one percent of the ‘conscious’ people who are truly aware. It’s so beautiful. The way her vocals travel up and down the waves of her awareness is truly transcending, and she’s truly a musical magician, here to express truth and authenticity in the most raw and vulnerable, open and real way. She travels these octaves so caressingly and the listener feels warmth. Fellow artist Indi Black had this to say of ‘Mystical Beast’: “Listening to ‘Mystical Beast’ was like hearing… it reminded me of Maleficent and the monster’s side of the story where you see this creature on the outside you think is dark and scary and intimidating, but there, there’s like this silver lining and innocence that comes through, and it’s like etheric and fairy-like and you want a peaceful resolution.’ I replied, ‘It’s like you kind of understand that you misunderstood’. It’s like ‘My Shadow And I’ was the initial spark, ‘Demon Queen’ was the climb of the peak, ‘Extraterrestrial’ was the downhill journey from that peak, and ‘Mystical Beast’ was the valley. This EP is a classic and if people are sleeping on SYSTEM 3RROR then it’s only because they are sleeping on themselves. I, as Kristian Cloud the artist am deeply inspired by all four of these songs. It’s also deeply enchanting how all the photos go so well each song too. It’s like each photo can go with any one of the songs, too, in a very multidimensional way. She showcases each quadrant of her personality, each of the four elements, in each song, revealing to the multiverse, her true identity as the avatar and master of all elements.
